This book was written by Paul, an apostle of God to the Romans. He wrote it to them although neither he nor the other apostles had ever met them. It is thought that the church in Rome was formed by Christians who came together after Pentecost. This book has most of the foundations of the gospel of Jesus as well as the message of salvation. It is a very important book for any believer firstly, because we need to know what it says for ourselves, but also so that we can share its contents with people who do not yet know Jesus as Saviour.
Paul was a very well educated and articulate man who was passionate for Jesus. In his writings he meticulously presents the arguments for the case of the gospel, believing that you will draw one conclusion from this book – salvation can only come through knowing Jesus, and it is through faith alone and not by works. He sets forth the foundations for the Christian faith, giving us practical principles on how to live out this faith.
My prayer is that as you study this book, you will re-examine your commitment to God and your relationships with His people.
